Cica is one of my favourite SecondLife artists. She is also very kind and very productive. Funday is her latest installation, and I went to get a break from my inventory sorting.

Funday is cows and cats and chickens and clicking everything and dancing. There are monster-big frogs and a dragon in a lake, But it’s a lot of fun.

I have not been online much and hardly in-world – I’ve spend most of my days outside doing stuff in the garden or napping in the shade of my trees. I don’t go to the beach IRL, not even when the temperature rise above 30 degrees. I like swimming in the ocean, but the thought of getting myself to and from the ocean when it unbelievable hot, is just too much effort.

But last night I got a message that Cica Ghost had opened a new SIM, so I went in-world to check it out. I really love SecondLife, and Daydreaming was perfect to get reacquainted with my best hobby.

A close look here sees walkways, docks… a skyport in the bowl of an enormous crater, wrought from a technology so advanced that it will forever seem ancient. From here, merchants in scarabesque vessels ply their trade between the worlds, between realities. But step back; let the sunlight gleam from the opalescent hulls and they become as petals, the brass and iron of the walkways become stems, to the structures that hold it all together: a magnificent flower, shining in the crater’s embrace. In the middle of it all, a bright light streaks upwards, the connection to those other realities by which these ships journey to places as yet undreamed. This is the gateway of now. The launching off point for those brave souls that are truly ready for the future.

In the spring of this year, I read on Bryn Oh’s blog that she would cast the dancer in bronze. I love bronze, and I have long been contemplating getting some bronze art, so I decided to put my name down for a copy. It has just arrived, and it’s beautiful.

A man gets out of bed and walk through a grey world – and past some scary characters to a woman with a sheep.

The installation at LEA 18, Cocytus: The 9th Circle of Hell, is Frankx Lefavre’s attempt to capture the mood of Dante’s Inferno. I have no idea if he succeed as I haven’t read any Dante, but the SIM is amazing. It was a perfect back-drop for Gora’s and my catch-up this morning.

We saw The Man – The Man that will turn into The Burning Man in a weeks time.

There is a lot of art at Burn2 – some of it good, some of it not so good. We tend to dwell on the stuff that we like – for a short while – Gora gets restless if we hang too long. Dido’s and Nitro’s Gallery we enjoyed for a full 15 minutes!!!

Burn2 is 6 SIMs so if you want to see it all in a couple of hours, you need to get yourself some transport. We were lucky – we found an Elephant Taxi. A huge beast that easily could carry us both . Others would stop and stare, because as Gora said: “Wouldn’t you? A skeleton and an old bag on an Elephant?” Of course she is right.

A really fun morning, but nice to get off that elephant and stretch one’s back. There is still a week of Burn2 and I think I will go back and see things by walking and not in a rush. Thanks to Gora, the Elephant & Burn2 this rainy Sunday Morning turned out sunny and fun.

I love Bryn Oh, her poems, her stories and her work in SL. SL being what it is – virtual and constantly evolving – Bryn Oh often makes machinima of her installation. Her machinima work has been – and still is – a great inspiration to me. Her tone and her mood always gets me completely. So I recommend that you go to LEA9 and spend an afternoon there. It is amazing and so much fun to see her work, read her stories and see her machinima.

It was very lucky that we went together, as we did encounter the killer rabbit, and I was sent home after it killed me. Gora TPed me back and we could continue – is that cheating?

We had a great time getting scared at this amazing art installation. But we have to go back as we didn’t get all the notecard, so the poem is incomplete. Pieces are missing. Plus it was so much fun. It’s great to get out again.
